By telemedicine doctors using determining the treatment of four patients with tuberculosis and HIV

All patients were from the Karaganda region and Almaty. Experts have been selected the necessary treatment regimen for them.

The online telemedicine meeting was held in Almaty, during which complex clinical cases of patients with combined tuberculosis and HIV infection were discussed. The event was attended by experts:

• “National Scientific Center of Phthisiopulmonology”;

• “Kazakh Scientific Center of Dermatology and Infectious Diseases”;

• “Karaganda Regional TB Dispensary”;

• “Karaganda Regional Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS”;

• City clinic number 32 of the city of Shakhtinsk;

• “Center of Phthisiopulmonology” in Almaty;

• “State AIDS Center” Almaty;

• City polyclinic №14, №15 Almaty;

• Pathological service of Almaty;

• The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

As part of the online meeting, doctors were discussed four complex cases of patients from the Karaganda region and the city of Almaty. All of them have combined tuberculosis and HIV infection. Experts have noted the validity of the established diagnosis, the scheme of antiretroviral and anti-tuberculosis treatment, as well as laboratory and instrumental studies.

By the end of the discussing, the cases were presented, further management tactics were determined, recommendations were made for the correction of the individual tuberculosis treatment regimen with the replacement of the suspected drug that caused the adverse events. Doctors noted the need for ongoing discussions with patients about adherence to HIV treatment. The curability of their tuberculosis process depends on this.

The teleconference took place as part of the program activities of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
